Qualcomm has announced a partnership with Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari. Both of these companies announced a strategic technology collaboration, aiming for the accelerated digital transformation in the future Ferrari cars.
Qualcomm in its announcement revealed of collaborating with Ferrari on designing, developing and integrating Ferrari’s digital cockpits, which indicates that it’s relying on Qualcomm’s hardware for future infotainment systems.
Ferrari has planned to employ Qualcomm’s Digital Chassis Suite in future as a part of the agreement. However, there are few details on which Snapdragon technologies will be used by Ferrari or which vehicles would integrate Qualcomm’s technologies.
Moreover, the Snapdragon Digital Chassis is Qualcomm’s parent brand for its automotive technology solutions which includes Snapdragon Ride (used for automated and assistive driver technologies), Snapdragon Cockpit (for in-car experiences and SoCs), and Snapdragon Auto Connectivity (for integrating LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi with cars).
As a part of this deal, Qualcomm will also be joining Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team as a sponsor, featuring Snapdragon Logo to appear on Ferrari’s F1-75 single-seater car.
Ferrari is the latest automotive company to join the list of partners including Volvo, Honda, Renault, and GM, to make use of Qualcomm’s digital suite of car technology in some of the above-mentioned forms.
