Facebook Watch app for smart TVs, which enables users to access various films, programmes, and livestreams on the platform, could no longer be accessible on Apple TV, according to a report by 9to5Mac. Some users claim that with the app’s most recent update, they can no longer access it.
One user shared a snapshot of the notice they received after attempting to launch Facebook’s Watch on their Apple TV 4K in a MacRumors thread. The notice reads, “The Facebook Watch TV app is no longer accessible, but you can still enjoy loads of movies on Facebook at www.facebook.com/watch”. Similar experiences have been reported by several other users.
After initially offering it on Samsung smart TVs, Facebook launched its Watch app for Apple TV in 2017. Along with Facebook’s mobile app and desktop website, the app is also accessible on several other smart TVs and gaming consoles. Users should be able to cast Watch from their phones to their TV. This applies only if they still want to use the Watch app on Apple TV. But this certainly isn’t as handy as just launching an app.
It’s unclear whether the current update caused a bug that made Facebook’s Watch app unavailable. Or whether Facebook removed the app entirely from Apple TV. Apple TV is still listed as one of the platforms supported by Facebook Watch. The Verge contacted Facebook and Apple for comment but received no response right away.
